PURCHASE, N.Y. – Graduate senior Abby Stoller registered eight points (six goals and two assists) to lead Simmons lacrosse (3-1) to a commanding 18-8 victory over Manhattanville (0-1), on Thursday afternoon.

Manhattanville jumped on the board first, scoring two minutes into the game, but momentum quickly swung over Simmons. Sophomore Julia Chausse scored the equalizer 10 seconds later, leading to seven unanswered goals for the Sharks to take a 7-1 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Junior Sammi Hogan opened the second period scoring her fifth goal of the season 2:33 into the quarter to put the Sharks up 8-1. The Valiants snapped the Sharks 8-0 scoring run 29 seconds later for their second goal of the game, but momentum was clearly on the side of the Sharks. Hogan scored twice more before the end of the first half as Simmons took an 11-3 lead in the break.

Returning to the field for the start of the second half, Chausse scored the Sharks 12th goal 30 seconds into the period. The third quarter was a back-and-forth battle between the two programs.

After Manhattanville cut the lead to eight, Chausse picked up her second assist of the day connecting with sophomore Marita Nothacker for her second goal. The Valiants scored once more to bring the spread back to eight, but graduate senior Abby Stoller scored back-to-back goals with just over three minutes left to end the third leading 15-5.

The Sharks began the final quarter by taking their largest lead of the game. Sophomore Leah Manfra scored on a free position shot to give the Sharks an 11-point advantage before Stoller scored her sixth goal of the season to increase the spread to 12. But Manhattanville managed to deficit back to 10.
