Stoller Nets Six Goals as Lacrosse Overpowers UMass Dartmouth 19-7 in Opener

BRIGHTON, Mass. – Graduate senior Abby Stoller registered a career single-game high six goals to help the Simmons lacrosse team open the season with a commanding 19-7 win over UMass Dartmouth, Tuesday evening.

Junior attacker Liz Krenicky got the scoring started less than a minute into the contest, scoring unassisted to put the Sharks on the board. Moments later, Stoller scored her first of six goals in the game on pass from sophomore Marita Nothacker. Nothacker had a hand in the next two Shark goals, connecting with junior Sammi Hogan before scoring on a woman advantage. 

Stoller scored four of the Sharks six goals in the first quarter as Simmons held UMass Dartmouth scoreless throughout the period. With 36 remaining sophomore Melanny Sanchez-Alvarez put the Corsairs on the board.

UMass Dartmouth opened the second period with goal by Bella Mancini but the high-powered Shark offense remained potent. Junior Kat wood connected with senior Lilly Devitt for the tenth Simmons goal, before scoring the eleventh goal and took a commanding 13-3 lead into halftime.

Coming out at the start of the second half, Stoller added to her four-goal first half with a pair of goals in the third and fourth quarters. Hogan scored her third goal of the game in the opening minutes of the third, while Chausse registered a career single-game high three goals, scoring the second to last on a pass from sophomore Cameron Richards.

Senior goalie Nicole Elliott picked up her first win of the season, recording eight saves in 30 minutes. Fellow senior goalie Erin McIntyre played the third quarter picking up two saves, while junior Katie Castle played the fourth, registering seven key saves.
