WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons University's Cat Cross (Beverly, Mass.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Goalie of the Week for the week of April 22-28, it was announced today by the league. 

Cross earns the award for the second time this season after being named for the week of March 4-10 and becomes the first netminder to earn the honor multiple times in the same season for the Sharks since Kenzie Rogers was cited twice during the 2016 campaign. Cross has been tabbed three times for Simmons in her career. 

In two matches, the sophomore recorded a pair of overtime victories, including an upset win in the GNAC Championship Tournament Quarterfinals. The goalie registered an 8.27 goals against average in 123:19 minutes of action and stopped 17 shots to post a 50% save percentage. Cross turned away 12 shots in the Sharks' 9-8 overtime victory over 61:57 of play in the team's regular-season finale at Norwich University on April 24. The Beverly High School graduate put in extra time again just three days later when she made five saves during 61:22 of action in a 10-9 victory at Colby Sawyer College in the GNAC Quarterfinals. 

Cross currently ranks third among GNAC goalies with a 10.15 goals against average and a school-record 10 victories, while placing second in games started with 16 and fourth with 874:53 minutes played. The netminder has started every match for Simmons and has registered double-digit stops on four occasions, including a season-high of 18 in a 9-8 victory over Curry College on March 19. Her GAA stands as the second-lowest in school history. 

The second-year goalie has seen action in 30 career matches, while starting 29 of them and owns a lifetime goals against average of 10.94, which ranks as the lowest mark in school history. She also boasts a 43.6% save percentage in 1595:39 minutes of action and holds a 16-12 win-loss record for her career. 

The Sharks are currently 10-6 on the season, including 7-4 in league play and earned the number five seed in the GNAC Tournament. Simmons advanced to the GNAC Semifinals after a 10-9 overtime victory over fourth-seeded Colby-Sawyer College on April 27 and will play top-seeded Johnson & Wales University on Wednesday, May 1 at 7:00 p.m. in Providence, R.I.
