Rogers Named GNAC Women's Lacrosse Goalie of the Week Again

WINTHROP, Mass. ? Simmons College women?s lacrosse player Kenzie Rogers (Bourne, Mass.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Goalie of the Week for the week of April 4-10, it was announced today by the league. Rogers also earned the honor for the week of February 29 to March 6 and is one of two netminders in the conference to be named twice this season.

WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons College women's lacrosse player Kenzie Rogers (Bourne, Mass.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Goalie of the Week for the week of April 4-10, it was announced today by the league. Rogers also earned the honor for the week of February 29 to March 6 and is one of two netminders in the conference to be named twice this season.

In two matches, the first year owned a .545 save percentage, while stopping 24 shots in 120 minutes of action. A graduate of Falmouth Academy, Rogers posted a 1-1 record to go with a 10.00 goals against average and added seven ground balls. Rogers began the week by turning away a career-high 13 shots in a 20-8 victory at Mount Ida College on April 5. The rookie capped the week with an 11-save effort in a 12-5 defeat at Saint Joseph's College (Maine) on April 9. 

For the season, the Physical Therapy major has started all 10 matches, while playing all but 14:39 minutes on the year and ranks third among conference leaders with 585:21 minutes played. Rogers has made 10 or more saves on four occasions this year and also has 18 ground balls and seven caused turnovers on the season. She carries a .422 save mark for the year in addition to a 12.51 goals against average. 

Simmons is currently 5-5 on the season, including 2-2 in league play. The Sharks will be in action again on Tuesday, April 12 when they head down the street to take on GNAC and Fenway rival Emmanuel College for a 7:00 p.m. contest at Clemente Field in Boston, Mass.
