GRAND LAKE, Colo. - Junior Simmons College lacrosse players, Crystal Derosier (Kingston, Mass.) and Symonne Fontenot (Portsmouth, N.H.) were both named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Roll, it was recently announced by the IWLCA.

The IWLCA honors 738 Student-Athletes from 162 institutions with inclusion on the 2014 IWLCA Academic Honor Roll, including 364 student-athletes from 126 different NCAA Division III institutions. All student-athletes were nominated by their respective schools and have achieved at least junior status academically and had a cumulative academic grade point average of 3.50 or greater. Simmons lacrosse was just one of three lax programs from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference to have its players recognized and one of just two institutions in the league to have multiple players tabbed.

Derosier started all 14 matches in goal for the Sharks, while owning a 48.1% save percentage, which was good for third among GNAC leaders. A physical therapy major, she also posted a 10.70 goals against average and earned seven victories.

Fontenot got the starting nod in all 14 contests to continue her streak of starting every match for her career from her spot on the defense.  The defender notched a goal and ranked fourth on the squad with 13 caused turnovers, while picking up 23 ground balls.

Simmons finished the 2014 campaign with a 7-7 overall record, including 6-4 in GNAC play. The Sharks advanced to the quarterfinals of the GNAC Tournament, before bowing out with an 11-9 loss at Norwich University on April 22.
