Sharks Named to IWLCA Division III Academic Squad

NEWTON, Mass. ? Simmons Lacrosse fell to the Lasell College Lasers in the final 20 seconds of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship, 15-14 Sunday afternoon in their first trip to the conference finals in program history. The Sharks chipped away at a four-goal deficit in the second half to tie the game with 44 seconds remaining. But the Lasers won the final draw control to solidify the win. 

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons Lacrosse was one of 86 schools to earn Division III Academic Squad honors for 2013 season announced by the Intercollegiate Women?s Lacrosse Coaches Association last week.

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons Lacrosse was one of 86 schools to earn Division III Academic Squad honors for 2013 season announced by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association last week. To be eligible, teams must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher. This is the second straight year that the Sharks have received this honor.

 

In addition, the IWLCA honored 382 student athletes for their work in the classroom on the 2013 Division III Academic Honor Roll. Simmons seniors Megan Coffey (Wilmot Flat, N.H.) and Kelly Last (West Haven, Conn.) and junior Caroline Warnock (Kingston, Mass.) each received the honor. All student-athletes were nominated by their schools and have achieved at least junior status academically.

 

The Sharks competed in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference championship for the first time in program history in 2013 and finished the season 10-4.
