BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons Lacrosse scored eleven goals in each half to defeat Johnson & Wales club team, 22-2 Wednesday evening in an exhibition game. The Sharks were led by freshman Ashley Sheehan (North Attleboro, Mass.), who scored six goals, while nine different Sharks tallied for Simmons.

Simmons took a quick six-goal lead as Hannah McGoldrick (Newton, Mass.) and Rachel Wallace (Braintree, Mass.) opened the scoring before Sheehan scored a natural hat trick. Simmons junior Becca Shea (Quincy, Mass.) buried her second goal of the year before the Wildcats got on the scoreboard off a high shot from Nicolette Rich.

But the Sharks quickly rebounded, scoring five more goals by Greer Gilbert (Falmouth, Mass.), Wallace, Sheehan and Callie Warnock (Kingston, Mass.) to end the half up 11-1.

Ali Stonehouse (Keene, N.H.) started things off for the Sharks less than a minute into the second half as she beat Wildcats goalkeeper Genevieve Giampietro down low. Brittany Manfro tallied Johnson & Wales second goal at 27:07 of the second half off a free position shot. But it was all Simmons from there.

Senior Emily Kaley (Manchester, Maine) scored twice, Stonehouse, McGoldrick, Shea and Sheehan each found the back of the net and junior Seneca Martensson (East Longmeadow, Mass.) tallied her first two goals of the year in the final minutes of the game.

In net for the Sharks, Kelly Last (West Haven, Conn.) and Crystal Derosier (Kingston, Mass.) combined for five saves on seven shots. The Sharks held a 15-10 advantage in draw controls and a 44-12 advantage in shots.

Simmons returns to action with a Great Northeast Athletic Conference showdown on Saturday, April 6th at Emerson College at 11:00 a.m.
