Martensson and Wallace Named to GNAC All-Conference, Tournament Teams

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. ? Simmons Lacrosse fell to the Salve Regina Seahawks, 16-6 in their 2013 season opener Tuesday evening in non-conference action. Freshman Greer Gilbert (Falmouth, Mass.) paced the Sharks with her first career hat trick and two ground balls.

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons Lacrosse received four nods on the 2013 Great Northeast Athletic Conference All-Conference honors announced Monday, just one day after falling to the Lasell College Lasers, 15-14 in the GNAC Championship. 

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons lacrosse defender Seneca Martensson (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and attack Rachel Wallace (Braintree, Mass.) were named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference First and Second Teams All-Conference, respectively, and the All-Tournament Team announced Monday by the conference.

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons lacrosse defender Seneca Martensson (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and attack Rachel Wallace (Braintree, Mass.) were named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference First and Second Teams All-Conference, respectively, and the All-Tournament Team announced Monday by the conference.

Martensson anchored the Sharks defense, starting 16 games with two goals and an assist. She recorded 10 draw controls, 10 caused turnovers and 39 ground balls for the Sharks who fell in the GNAC semifinals last week.

Wallace led the Sharks offense with 44 goals and 11 assists and scored her 100th career goal against Norwich University on April 27th. Wallace amassed 14 caused turnovers and 48 ground balls and finished her junior season with a .744 shots on goal percentage.

Simmons junior goalkeeper Kelly Last (West Haven, Conn.) was named to the 2012 GNAC Lacrosse Sportsmanship team for her accomplishments this season.
