"We had a great first half today; we worked on a lot of things we've been talking about improving, such as our shooting and the positioning on clears," said Head Coach Kate Leonard. "With patience and hustle it really came together for us."

First-year goalkeeper Kelly Last (West Haven, Conn.) made 17 saves and several strong clears in the win for Simmons, while seven Sharks contributed to the scoring.

For the Raiders, Lauren Brett tied Sypher for a game-high five goals, while teammates Natalie Bonvie and Jordyn Reyes tallied three apiece.

"Being aggressive on the draw was key for us as we played really well when starting with possession. Rachel Wallace (Braintree, Mass.) and Kayla Tirrell (Lincoln, R.I.) came up with several draw controls that kept our momentum going," said Leonard.

Simmons will travel to face non-conference Daniel Webster on Saturday, April 3 at 12:00pm.
