Lacrosse Earns GNAC Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Week Honors

Simmons Lacrosse's Lee Sutherland (Tuftonboro, N.H.) and Amanda Weaver (Eaton, Ohio) have been awarded Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie and Goalkeeper of the Week.

The awards follow a 2-0 week for the Sharks Lacrosse team, with wins against Pine Manor and Saint Joseph's Connecticut.

Freshman midfielder Sutherland had 7 goals and two assists in the two conference wins. She won almost 75% of the draws she took and was essential to Simmons' successful week.

"Lee has been working hard all season to improve and make smart decisions," said Head Coach Kate Leonard. "She is very much deserving of this honor this week as she led us to two big wins."

Junior goalkeeper Weaver had 11 saves and 15 Goals against in the two conference wins.

"Amanda has improved so much this season it is great to see her diligence recognized," said Leonard. "Goalie is not an easy position, and she has stepped up to the challenge in every way. Her recognition this week is well deserved."
