Sharks Earn 2008-09 GNAC Academic All-Conference Honors

Five Sharks Lacrosse players earned 2009 All-Conference honors from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference, in the Simmons lacrosse program?s first year of competition. Sophomore attacker Natalie Stever (Chagrin Falls. Ohio), freshman midfielder Lee Sutherland (Tuftonboro, N.H.), freshman defenseman Marissa Games (Newburyport, Mass.) and sophomore defenseman Kayla Tirrell (Lincoln, R.I.) all made the Second Team, while senior midfielder Heather Lowe (Woolwich, Maine) was given a spot on the All-Sportsmanship Team.

Simmons boasted 38 athletes who received the honor, and all seven of the Simmons varsity programs sponsored by the GNAC were represented on this year's Academic All-Conference team.

Second-year student-athletes from all 13 member institutions who hold a cumulative 3.25 (on a 4.0 scale) grade point average for the 2008-2009 academic school year and are a member of a varsity team are eligible.

"We are truly proud of our student-athletes' Great Northeast Athletic Conference honors," said Director of Athletics Ali Kantor. "Each athlete manages challenging academic curriculum, demanding athletic team commitments, clinical and internship responsibilities and succeeds in all areas. These women are outstanding ambassadors of our institution, and are, no doubt, the leaders of tomorrow."
