Julie Warren
Title: Novice Crew Coach

Julie Warren joined the Simmons College crew program in August of 2014 as the Sharks' Novice Crew Coach.

The Western Massachusetts native was first introduced to rowing while attending Smith College. Previously a musician and a ballet dancer, she began as a walk-on, and quickly found a deep appreciation for the sport as a member of the Pioneers crew squad.

After receiving her undergraduate degree in Mathematics in 2011, Warren decided to combine her passion for rowing with community development through coaching. At the Pioneer Valley Riverfront Club in Springfield, Mass., she served as the Youth Programs Coordinator, coached high school and masters programs, and also helped coach the PVRC chapter of Rowing Strong, Rowing Together, a program for inner city teen parents.

In 2013 Warren moved to Boston to become a member of Community Rowing's Institute for Rowing Leadership. While earning her certificate, she returned to competitive rowing as a coach for the CRI High School varsity girls, and a member of the competitive women's team.

Warren loves sharing her passion for rowing with athletes who are new to the sport and is excited to build a fun, fast team.

In addition to coaching at Simmons, Warren will continue to coach at CRI with the military/veterans and para-rowing (adaptive) programs. She races with the Competitive Women's Team at CRI in sweeps, and also sculls on her own.
