SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Simmons rowing faced tough competition as it began its spring slate against tough competition, Amherst College and Smith College, Saturday afternoon. The Sharks placed third overall. 

The veteran leadership from the Sharks senior crew, Steffi Gaehde, Maude Elovitz, Mackenzie Gondeck, Chloe Janes and Maggie, O'Byrne, helped the set the tone along with first-year coxswain Irene Swanson.

Simmons returns to the water next weekend, remaining local against MIT 130, Wellesley and Williams on April 2 and against Bates on April 3.
