Five Named to NEWMAC Rowing Academic All-Conference Team

Simmons University seniors Eleanor Pullan (Northampton, Mass.), Peizhu Pam Qian (Beijing, China/Developing Virtue Secondary Girls School (Calif.)), juniors Hannah Dike (Leominster, Mass.), Ally Fecteau (Burlington, Conn.), and sophomore Steffi Gaehde (Brookline, Mass.) were named to the 2019 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Rowing Academic All-Conference Team, it was announced by the league.

WESTWOOD, Mass. -- Simmons University seniors Eleanor Pullan (Northampton, Mass.)Peizhu Pam Qian (Beijing, China/Developing Virtue Secondary Girls School (Calif.)), juniors Hannah Dike (Leominster, Mass.), Ally Fecteau (Burlington, Conn.), and sophomore Steffi Gaehde (Brookline, Mass.) were named to the 2019 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Rowing Academic All-Conference Team, it was announced by the league.

Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2018 fall semester, achieved second-year academic status at their institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.

Dike, Fecteau, and Qian earn the honor for the second straight year, while Pullan is chosen for the second time, following a selection as a sophomore. Gaehde is named in her first year of eligibility for the squad.

Dike, Gaehde, and Qian have rowed with the First Varsity Eight the entire season, while Fecteau has split time as a coxswain between the 1V and 2V8. Pullan has pulled consistently for the Second Varsity Eight.

The Sharks will be in action on Saturday, April 27, when they compete in the NEWMAC Championship on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. 

The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference consists of 11 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Emerson College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Simmons University is an Associate Member in the sport of rowing.
