Crew Varsity Eight Places 19th at 51st Head of the Charles

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Simmons College crew team's Varsity Eight placed 19th out of 32 entries in the historic 51st Head of the Charles Regatta this afternoon on the Charles River in Cambridge, Mass.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Simmons College crew team's Varsity Eight placed 19th out of 32 entries in the historic 51st Head of the Charles Regatta this afternoon on the Charles River in Cambridge, Mass. 

The eight from Williams College turned in a time of 17:25.577 to win the race.

The Sharks overcame a three-second deficit at the Weld point of the race to move past Rochester Institute of Technology's shell and went on to finish with a mark of 18:46.887. Sophomore Ronnie Bennett (Pottstown, Pa.) took the oar in the bow seat, followed by senior Jill Bolduc (Methuen, Mass.), sophomores Erin Lilienthal (East Lyme, Conn.) and Erica Bartle (Arlington, Mass.), seniors Sophie Stone (Greenland, N.H.) and Allie Belanger (Blackstone, Mass.), first year Sarah Bohan (Guilford, Conn.) and senior stroke Chelsea Foster (Avon, Conn.). Junior Olivia Smiaroski (Northfield, Mass.) led the crew from the coxswain seat.

The Sharks will race again on Sunday, November 1 when they compete in the Seven Sisters Championship hosted by Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Mass.
