Field Hockey Claims Fourth Seed in GNAC Championship Tournament; Hosts No. 5 New England College on Saturday Oct. 28

WINTHROP, Mass. – Finishing the season with a 13-3 record, including a 9-3 mark against conference foes, Simmons field hockey earned the 2023 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship Tournament announced late Wednesday evening.

As the fourth seed, the Sharks will host fifth seed New England College at Daly Field on Saturday, October 28 at 11 a.m. The last time these two teams met was back on September 25 when first-year Katy Paveglio scored the game-winner two minutes into the first over time period. 

Defending champion Johnson & Wales was awarded the top-seed in the 2023 post-season tournament following its head-to-head win over Lasell University after both teams finished with identical 11-1 conference marks. Colby-Sawyer College, who also finished with 9-3 GNAC record, secured the third seed with its two regular season wins over Simmons and New England College.

Come out and support the Sharks on Saturday morning! There will be a fan bus departing the Bartol Parking lot on Pilgrim Road at 10:45 a.m. for the field hockey playoff game. Everyone will return to campus immediately after the field hockey game.
