Gonyea, Kahl Snag GNAC Player and Rookie of the Week Honors

WINTHROP, Mass. – Junior forward Sydney Gonyea and first-year midfielder Ava Kahl secured Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player and Rookie of the Week accolads announced by league on Monday afternoon. 

Gonyea and Kahl combined for a total of nine goals as the pair guided the Sharks to a 2-0 week following victories over Elms College and Regis College.

Over the two-game week, Gonyea registered a total of six goals and five assists for 17 points against the Blazers and Pride. Early in the week, Gonyea eclipsed her career single-game best tallying nine points with three goals and three assists against Elms College on Tuesday evening. Late in the week, Gonyea recorded another hat-trick, tallying three goals and two assists for eight points against nearby rival Regis College.  

Kahl tallied three goals for six points in two games against the Blazers and Regis. Early in the week against Elms College, on the road, Kahl tallied a career single-game best two goals for four points. The Vermont native closed out the week scoring the final goal in a 10-0 victory over Regis College. 

Simmons returns to the field on Wednesday, October 18 when they host Dean College at 5 p.m.
