Field Hockey Claims Second Seed In GNAC Tourney; Hosts No. 7 Anna Maria on Saturday

WINTHROP, Mass. – After tying their program record in wins with a 14-2 overall mark, Simmons field hockey (14-2, 9-2 GNAC) claimed the second seed in the 2022 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) post-season tournament announced by the league Wednesday evening.  

The Sharks will host seventh-seed Anna Maria College on Saturday morning, October 29 at Daly Field. There will be a fan bus departing the Bartol Lot on Pilgrim Road at 10:30 a.m. for fans who would like to support the Sharks on Saturday morning.  

Simmons came out on the winning end with a 3-0 win the first time the two teams met early in the season on September 7. Sophomore Anna Tedeschi scored the game-winner in the second minute on passes from classmates Sydney Gonyea and Hannah Groves.

Johnson & Wales, who finished the regular season with an unblemished 11-0 conference mark, claimed the number one seed and will host the University of St. Joseph (Conn.) on Saturday in Providence. Saint Joseph's College of Maine will host sixth seed Lasell University as the third seed, while Colby-Sawyer earned the fourth seed and will play fifth seed Rivier University.
