BOSTON, Mass. - Sophomore forward Sammy Rondeau (Franklin, Mass.) tallied a career-high five points and junior forward Jillian Mercer (Dartmouth, Mass.) scored a pair of goals to lead the Simmons College field hockey team to a 9-0 victory over host Wheelock College this evening at Winsor Field in Boston, Mass. The Sharks improve to a perfect 4-0, while the Wildcats fall to 1-3.

The nine goals were the most scored by Simmons since it defeated Rivier University, 9-4, on October 4, 2011 and the nine-goal margin of victory was its biggest since a 9-0 triumph over Bay Path College on September 18, 2010.

Simmons controlled the action, outshooting Wheelock, 25-6, while holding an 18-2 advantage on 
penalty corners.

Rondeau collected a loose ball in front of the cage off a strike from junior forward Jenna Gagnon 
(Waterville, Maine) and slipped a shot past the Wheelock keeper for her first goal of the night with 12:31 left in the opening half. Her second tally came when she tipped in a shot from the top of the circle from Gagnon with just 2:39 gone in the second half to give the Sharks a 4-0 cushion.

First year midfielder Analise Giarrusso (Hingham, Mass.) increased the Simmons' lead to 2-0, scoring her second tally of the year on a shot from the top of the circle with 12:30 remaining in the half. Mercer gave the visitors a 3-0 advantage when she carried the ball to the left post of the cage and found the back of the cage for her first marker of the year with just 2:57 to go in the period. Gagnon later pushed the Simmons lead to 5-0 when she fired a shot from just inside the circle and into the back of the cage with 31:31 left in the second stanza. The Sharks took a 6-0 lead with 25:32 left in the second half when Rondeau's shot found Mercer, who was camped right in front of the cage, for her second goal of the evening.

First year forward Missy Maiewski (Northampton, Mass.) scored the next two markers of the night for Simmons with 21:33 to go in the period and 8:51 left in the half to give her three on the season. Junior forward Madeline Koufos (Needham, Mass.) capped the scoring with an 
unassisted marker with 97 seconds remaining in the contest for a 9-0 final.

Wheelock's offense was led by sophomore forward Katie Frade (Dartmouth, Mass.), who put all three of her shots on goal.

Junior keepers Brianna Rastello (Salem, N.H.) and Hope McDonald (Hingham, Mass.) shared the shutout for the Sharks with each playing 35 minutes. Rastello was untested in the first half, while McDonald made four saves. She has not been scored upon in 250:07 career minutes. Junior Meghan Lewis (South Berwick, Maine) stopped 10 shots for the Wildcats.

The Sharks return to action on Saturday, September 12 when they open the Great Northeast Athletic Conference schedule on the road at Nashua, N.H. vs. Rivier University at 11:00 a.m., while
