STANDISH, Maine - The Saint Joseph's field hockey team scored with 2:43 left in overtime to give it a 2-1 victory over Simmons College this afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match in Standish, Maine. The Sharks' seven-match win streak comes to an end as they fall to 11-5 overall and 5-1 in league play, while the Monks improve to 13-2 and 6-0.

Simmons earns the number two seed in the GNAC Championship Tournament and will host a semifinals match on November 5, taking on the winner of third-seeded Johnson & Wales University and number six seed Rivier University. Saint Joseph captures the top seed and will play the winner of number four Anna Maria and number five Lasell College.

First year midfielder Bailey Cutler (Lisbon Falls, Maine) scored her team-high 11th goal of the year on an assist from sophomore midfielder Kelsey Dumond (Lewiston, Maine) at 82:17 to give the Monks the victory.

Sophomore Mary Neidhardt (Middlefield, Conn.) put the Sharks on the board first, following a scoreless first half. The forward took a feed from junior midfielder Amy Cronin (Georgetown, Mass.) and tallied her sixth goal of the season at 53:44 of the second stanza. Saint Joseph's wasted no time in answering, scoring the equalizer just 28 seconds later when Dumond potted her ninth marker of the season at 54:12 to make it 1-1.

The Monks owned a 19-4 shot advantage and was awarded eight penalty corners to Simmons total of one.

Sophomore keeper Brianna Rastello (Salem, N.H.) stopped seven shots for the Sharks, while sophomore goalie Emma Astbury (Bridgewater, Vt.) made one save to earn the victory for Saint Joseph's.

The Monks wrap up their regular season schedule with a 3:00 p.m. match in Plymouth, N.H., facing Plymouth State University on October 28.
