BOSTON, Mass. -- The Seahawks scored just 1:00 minute into the first half and it was the only goal they would need as the Seahawks defeated the Sharks, 6-0 in field hockey action Wednesday evening. Kelly Burke and Lisa Bucci each tallied twice to lift the Seahawks to a 3-3 overall record.

In the first half, Salve Regina freshman Mary Cain hit a long ball into the circle and Heather Kapatoes finished it off, beating Sharks goalkeeper Renna Smith (Belfast, Maine) on the right side. Burke added her first tally of the evening just two minutes later unassisted after a long run up the right side.

Five minutes into the first half, Julia Grover took an initial shot but was denied by Smith but buried her own rebound to put the Seahawks up 3-0. Bucci added a fourth in a scuffle in front of Smith to end the scoring in the first half.

In the second, Bucci and Burke each found the back of the net again, this time beating Sharks freshman goaltender Carolyn Baremore (East Lyme, Conn.). Simmons defender Avery Hines (Newburyport, Mass.) and midfielder Meghan Fay (Foxboro, Mass.) each posted a defensive save for the Sharks.

The Seahawks held a 27-18 advantage in shots but were even in awarded penalty corners with 10 for both teams. Salve Regina goalkeeper Murphy McCann posted nine saves for the win while Smith and Baremore combined for 18 saves for the Sharks.
