Tighe Scores Hatrick in Simmons Field Hockey Win

BOSTON, Mass. ? Katelyn Tighe (Easton, Mass.) tallied three goals and had two assists to lead the Simmons Field Hockey team to an 8-1 victory against the Regis College Pride Tuesday evening at The Winsor School Fields in Boston, Massachusetts.

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons Field Hockey senior Katelyn Tighe (Easton, Mass.) was named to the 2011 North Atlantic Conference All-Conference Second Team announced Tuesday.

BOSTON, Mass. -- Katelyn Tighe (Easton, Mass.) scored two goals, as the Sharks were victorious against Colby-Sawyer College 4-2 in NAC Conference play Saturday at the Winsor School Field.

BOSTON, Mass. – Katelyn Tighe (Easton, Mass.) tallied three goals and had two assists to lead the Simmons Field Hockey team to an 8-1 victory against the Regis College Pride Tuesday evening at The Winsor School Fields in Boston, Massachusetts.

The Pride scored first at 13:22 into the first half on an unassisted goal by Sashae Wells (Everett, Mass.). Less than three minutes later, Simmons freshman Kelly Williamson (Natick, Mass.) buried a pass from Monica Doucette (Rockport, Maine) to tie the game at one. Tighe was awarded a stroke at 19:04 in the first half and beat Pride goalkeeper Morgan Mitchell (Ashburnham, Mass.) on the left side. Simmons freshman Mercedes Godin (Essex Junction, Vt.) scored twice to end the first half.

Williamson scored her second goal of the game 7:53 minutes into the second half on close range shot inside the circle. The Pride offense remained persistent with 10 shots on goal in the second half but the Sharks kept their composure on defense and used midfielders Meghan Fay (Foxboro, Mass.) and Lee Sutherland (Wolfeboro, N.H.) to bring the ball back into Pride territory.

Doucette scored the final goal of evening on an unassisted run down the right side. Simmons enjoyed a 38-12 advantage in shots and a 13-5 advantage in penalty corners. Renna Smith (Belfast, Maine) made 5 saves in the win while, Regis goalkeeper Morgan Mitchell had 21 saves in the loss. The Sharks move to 4-1 on the season while Regis falls to 0-4.

The Sharks host Saint Joseph's College (Maine) on Saturday, September 17th at 10:00 a.m. for their first NAC conference game. The Pride host Westfield State on September 15th at 8:00 p.m.
