Field Hockey Collects Win Over Regis, 3-0

TJ Cowin (Newry, Maine) tallied the first goal of the game at the 7:26 mark. The Sharks (1-0 overall, 0-0 NAC) outshot the Pride 33-0 to take their first win of the 2010 season.

TJ Cowin (Newry, Maine) tallied the first goal of the game at the 7:26 mark. The Sharks (1-0 overall, 0-0 NAC) outshot the Pride 33-0 to take their first win of the 2010 season.

All three of the Shark's goals were assisted. Brigid Rushe (Belmont, Mass.) aided in Cowin's score, while Katelyn Tighe (Easton, Mass.) contributed on the other two scores. Rushe and Brown each had three shots, and scoring on at least two shots on goal. Cowin and Tighe chimed in with five and six shots respectively.

Zoie Kaley (Manchester, Maine) registered a team-high seven shots, with five marked for the goal. As a team, Simmons had a total of 33 shots. Christine O'Toole registered Regis' only shot.

Regis keeper Morgan Mitchell had 22 saves for the Pride. Torie Pappas and Meghan Robohm had two and one defensive saves, respectively.

"We played as a team from start to end," said Head Coach Amanda Maxwell. "Today all of the little things finally clicked for us. I am so proud of the team. We played to win today and we did just that."

The Sharks will host Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Thursday, September 9 at 7:00pm, before returning to the road to face Mount Holyoke on Saturday, September 11 at 1:00pm. Regis College will host Elms (Sept. 8), and travel to Western New England (Sept. 11) to open its first conference match of the season.
