Simmons Field Hockey was named a 2010 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III National Academic Team, and eight athletes were named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad. The Sharks were recognized for achieving a team GPA of 3.00 or higher in the fall semester, while each athlete named to the Academic Squad earned a 3.30 or better in the fall 2010 semester.
Sophomores Marianna Brown (Newton, N.H.), Molly Maidman (West Hartford, Conn.) and Michaela Sangillo (Gray, Maine), juniors Kelly Fisher (Yarmouth, Maine) and Sasha Reilly (Wilmington, Mass.), and freshmen Courtney Joachim (Concord, Mass.), Monica Doucette (Rockport, Maine) and Erin Tollios (North Falmouth, Mass.) were named to the Academic Squad.
"I am so proud to have eight members of the field hockey team earn this award," said Head Coach Amanda Maxwell. "This is a major accomplishment for them, especially while in season! It shows how dedicated Simmons student athletes are to both academics and athletics."
