Field Hockey Defeated by the Lyons, 4-1

Simmons Field Hockey and Mount Holyoke endured wet weather in the Lyons? defeat of the Sharks in Boston on Saturday, 4-1. Simmons played an aggressive first half, but was outshot by the Lyons 26-9, and in shots on goal 12-3. The day?s highlight for the Sharks was a Christine Lowery (Wilder, Vt.) goal from a Lee Sutherland (Tuftonboro, N.H.) assist just 45 seconds into the second half.

Simmons Field Hockey and Mount Holyoke endured wet weather in the Lyons' defeat of the Sharks in Boston on Saturday, 4-1. Simmons played an aggressive first half, but was outshot by the Lyons 26-9, and in shots on goal 12-3. The day's highlight for the Sharks was a Christine Lowery (Wilder, Vt.) goal from a Lee Sutherland (Tuftonboro, N.H.) assist just 45 seconds into the second half.

Freshman goalkeeper Molly Maidman (West Hartford, Conn.) made 12 saves on the day to keep the Lyons scoring at bay. Sutherland, Lowery, and junior Kara Masse (Portland, Maine) helped drive the Simmons offense with shots on the Mount Holyoke goal.

The Lyons' Shara Robertson scored once in the first half, assisted by teammate Melissa Hartley. Maddy Starbranch found the back of the net at 42:10, unassisted, and was followed by teammates Jess Fajardo (49:14) and Katelyn Frick (60:45) to round out the Mount Holyoke scoring.

Simmons Field Hockey will return to action on Thursday, September 17 when they host Salve Regina at 7:00pm at home.
