WINTHROP, Mass. – For the second time this season, first-year swimmer Bee Eckels was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week announced by the league on Monday afternoon.

Competing against a trio of top-10 nationally ranked programs at the MIT Invitational, Eckels registered a pair of personal-best times on the third day of the meet. Eckels saw nearly 10 seconds drop from her previous best time in the 200-yard breaststroke, touching the wall with. Time of 2:46.66 in the finals. Later in the night, Eckels clipped another five seconds off her previous best time in the 200-yard IM. 

Additionally, Eckels also came tenths of a second shy of matching her personal-best time in the 100-yard breaststroke on day two, touching the wall with a time of 1:16.67 in the prelims 

Simmons returns to the pool in the new calendar year when they host Regis College and Colby-Sawyer College for a double-dual meet on January 6 at 1 p.m.
