Top Performances in Double Dual Win Help Quinlan, Eckels Garner GNAC Weekly Accolades

WINTHROP, Mass. – Sophomore swimmer Carli Quinlan and first-year Bee Eckels secured Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Swimmer and Rookie of the Week honors announced on Monday afternoon.

Receiving the accolades for the third time this season, Quinlan guided Simmons to a double-dual meet sweep of the University of the New England and Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday afternoon. Quinlan registered a pair of season-best times in the 100 free (55.63) and the 100 fly (1:02.70) to capture two of the Sharks eight first place finishes. Additionally, to close out the meet, Quinlan swam the anchor leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay to seal the win for the Sharks, clocking a time of 3:54.56 

Eckels became the second Simmons first-year this season to garner Rookie of the Week honors, following a first-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke beating out UNE's Meghan Cabral with a time of 1:17.96. Eckels also posted a season-best time in the 100 IM (1:10.03) and placed second in the 200 free (2:11.96).

Simmons returns to the pool after the Thanksgiving Break with the three-day MIT Invitational on December 1-3.
