Swimming and Diving Finishes Fourth at Seven Sisters Invitational

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Simmons swimming and diving finished fourth on the final day of the Seven Sisters Invitational with a total of 459.5 points on Sunday afternoon. 

Senior distance swimmer Eva Piernas began the second day claiming second place in the 1,650-yard freestyle, touching the wall with a time of 19:26.20. Fellow senior Sophie Stevenson also competed in the mile race, posting a time of 22:15.14. 

First-year swimmer Carli Quinlan continued her impressive season, securing third place in the 100-yard freestyle. The Haverhill, Massachusetts native touched the wall .16 seconds head of Wellesley's McKaela Glanville with a time of 56.08. Sophomore Hailey Stuck posted a season-best time of 58.91 to finish eighth, while first year Lily Martin tied Mount Holyoke's Erin Schrama for 12th with a time of 59.89.

The Sharks concluded the Seven Sisters Invitational following a sixth-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The quartet of Lilly Martin, Katelyn Quinlan, Sophie Stevenson, and Eva Piernas registered the team's third best time of the season in the event with a time of 4:10.32.

  • First-year swimmer Carli Quinlan beat out Wellesley's McKaela Glanville by .16 seconds to finish third in the 100-yard free (56.08).

Simmons returns to the pool next Saturday, January 21 when they travel back to the western part of the state for a dual meet against Mount Holyoke at noon.
