WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons University's Meg Driscoll (Haverhill, Mass.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Swimming & Diving Rookie of the Week for the week of November 11-17, it was announced today by the league.

Driscoll earns the award for the second time this season after being named for the week of October 14-20 and is one of just two newcomers to earn the honor multiple times this season. The Sharks have captured the top rookie weekly accolade three times to lead the conference. First year Katelyn Quinlan (Haverhill, Mass.) was selected for the week of October 21-27.

The Haverhill High School product scored 22 points to lead all competitors in the team's 185-77 victory over host University of New England on November 9. Driscoll won both breaststroke events and finished second in the 50-yard butterfly. She won the 50-yard breaststroke with a clip of 35.40 in her first entry in the event this season and added a victory in the 100-yard race with a mark of 1:15.77. Driscoll was the runner-up in the 50-fly with a time of 28.97 to mark her first race in the event for Simmons. The rookie capped the meet by leading off the 200-yard freestyle relay ahead of sophomore Lauren Howard (Abington, Mass.), senior Áine Scholand (Albuquerque, N.M.) and Quinlan to combine on a time of 1:47.13 to win the race by less than a second and close out the afternoon.

Driscoll has enjoyed 11 top-five finishes in her first collegiate season, while touching the wall first on four occasions. She has won the 100-yard breaststroke twice and added single triumphs in the 50 and 200-yard breaststroke. The Psychology major has been a factor in relays for the Sharks as well, helping them to wins in the 200-yard medley relay and the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Simmons is currently 3-5 on the season and will swim again on Friday, December 6 at 6:30 p.m. in Cambridge, Mass. at the MIT Invitational.
