Driscoll Named GNAC Women's Swimming & Diving Rookie of the Week

WINTHROP, Mass. ? Simmons University?s Meg Driscoll (Haverhill, Mass.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women?s Swimming & Diving Rookie of the Week for the week of November 11-17, it was announced today by the league. 

WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons University first year Meg Driscoll (Haverhill, Mass.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Swimming & Diving Rookie of the Week for the week of October 14-20, it was announced today by the league. 

Driscoll becomes the first Shark to earn top weekly rookie honors since teammate Sarah Singleton (Mission Hills, Calif.) was named four times last season. 

Driscoll won both of her individual events in Simmons only dual meet of the week and helped the Sharks to a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. Driscoll earned first place in the 100-yard breaststroke in her first collegiate meet with a time of 1:14.87 vs. Division I Merrimack College on October 19. The Haverhill High School graduate touched the wall first in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:41.11 to complete her mastery of the stroke for the day and finish the meet with 18 points to tie for the team lead. Driscoll, who majors in Psychology at Simmons, swam the breaststroke leg of the 200-yard medley relay and contributed the runner-up finish. 

The Sharks are currently 0-1 on the season and return to the water on Saturday, October 26 when they host Westfield State University at 4:00 p.m. in their home opener.
