The Hour of Power is organized annually to raise awareness of Sarcoma Cancer and to support research efforts at the University of Chicago. Sarcoma is a rare soft-tissue Cancer that affects the college undergraduate age group of late teens to early 20's, disproportionately to other Cancers. Ted Mullin, a passionate division III swimmer at Carleton College (Minnesota) died of Sarcoma in the fall of 2006. The HOUR of POWER was among his favorite sets. On Thursday, Simmons will participate in the Hour of Power in Ted's honor.

The Hour of Power has grown in size since it was first held in 2006 with 15 teams and a total of $11,000 raised for Sarcoma research. This year's participants eagerly await the total for 2010.
