  • NEWMAC Adds Simmons College as Associate Member in Women’s Rowing

    WELLESLEY, Mass. - Simmons College will join the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) as an associate member in the sport of women's rowing, the league announced on Wednesday. Simmons will become the conference's seventh women's crew program and will compete in the NEWMAC championship beginning in 2013.
  • Eight Rowers Named 2012 CRCA Scholar Athletes

    BOSTON, Mass. -- Eight varsity rowers on the Simmons Crew team have been named 2012 Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Scholar Athletes. Seniors Emily Hagens (Champaign, Ill.) and Diane McKiernan (Sandwich, Mass.); juniors Audrey Purcell (Newton, N.J.), Cindy Reynolds (Gorham, Maine) and Anna Rowse (Pepperell, Mass.); and sophomores Andrea Breen (Amherst, Mass.), Alison Carr (Reading, Mass.) and Emily VanSteenbergen (Middletown, Conn.) all received the honor.

    WORCESTER, Mass. -- Eleven athletes from the Simmons Crew team were named to the 2012 ECAC National Invitational Rowing Championship Steward’s All-Academic Team for maintaining a 3.35 cumulative GPA after one year of rowing at the varsity level.
  • Crew Closes Season at ECAC National Invitational Rowing Championships

    WORCESTER, Mass. – Simmons Crew raced in the May 11 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) National Invitational Rowing Championships, held on Worcester’s Lake Quinsigamond racecourse. With the championship regatta in the books, the Sharks close out the 2012 spring season.
  • Crew Competes at 2012 New England Rowing Championships

    WORCESTER, Mass. – Simmons Crew competed in the 2012 New England Rowing Championships on Saturday, May 5. The Sharks first, second and third varsity eights all qualified for the petite finals after racing in the morning heats, with the 2V8 posting the best Simmons race of the day with a second place finish.

  • Sharks Split Races in Malden

    MALDEN, Mass. – Simmons Crew raced at the Malden River Spirit Regatta on Saturday. The fourth annual regatta, featuring Tufts, Smith and Wellesley, was run in a double-dual format to accommodate Tufts’ narrow home racecourse. The crews battled a variable 8-10mph headwind and gust tailwind throughout the morning.
  • Sharks Name Shell After Longtime Athletic Director

    BOSTON, Mass. – Simmons Crew welcomed a new Resolute racing shell to their fleet on Saturday on the dock of Riverside Boat Club. The new eight was named “Ali W. Kantor,” to celebrate longtime Simmons Athletic Director Ali Kantor in her 25th year at the helm of the athletics department.
  • Sharks Compete in Pair of Weekend Races

    WORCESTER, Mass. – Simmons Crew raced in the annual Donahue Cup on Saturday, and in the Clark Invitational on Sunday, both on the Lake Quinsigamond racecourse. The Sharks rowed to strong finishes on both days against strong Division III opponents from Williams, WPI and Mount Holyoke.

    BOSTON, Mass. – Simmons Crew held their first home regatta in six years on Saturday, April 7 on Boston’s Charles River racecourse. The No. 11 nationally ranked Sharks raced against No. 2 Bates and non-division University of Vermont in a stiff cross-headwind of about 15mph with varying gusts.

    BOSTON, Mass. – Simmons Crew has been ranked 11th among NCAA Division III varsity eights in the April 4, 2012 USRowing/Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Poll. The Sharks climbed to the No. 11 spot after opening the season with a defeat of Smith College.

    BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons Crew will open the 2012 spring season on Saturday, March 31, against opponents from Holy Cross and Smith College on Worcester’s Lake Quinsigamond. The Sharks have been hard at work preparing for the spring, first with the team’s annual spring break trip to Florida, and now on their home course on the Charles River.
  • Crew Races to Second Place at Seven Sisters Regatta

    Simmons College Crew placed second overall at the 22nd annual Seven Sisters Regatta on Saturday in Hadley, Mass. Wellesley captured the overall Championship, taking first place in every race to total 40 total points, while The Sharks secured second place with 30 points. This is the third year in a row for a Wellesley-Simmons 1-2 finish. They were followed by Mount Holyoke (22), Smith (20), and Bryn Mawr (6).
  • Simmons Crew to Compete at Seven Sisters Regatta

    Simmons Crew will travel to Smith College in Northampton, Mass. on Saturday to compete in the 22nd Seven Sisters Regatta. The Sharks will compete against Bryn Mawr College, Mount Holyoke College, Smith and two-time defending champion Wellesley College.

    BOSTON, Mass. – Simmons College Crew competed on their home course in the 47th annual Head of the Charles Regatta on Saturday and Sunday, October 22-23, 2011. The Sharks’ entries in the Alumni Eight, Club Single, Collegiate Four and Collegiate Eight all clocked strong performances over the weekend, setting up the team for their final week of the season and the Seven Sisters Regatta.
  • Sharks Prepare for Head of the Charles Regatta

    Simmons Crew will compete in the 47th annual Head of the Charles Regatta, the world’s largest two-day rowing event, on Saturday and Sunday, October 22-23. Over 300,000 spectators are expected to watch more than 8,000 athletes from 19 different countries navigate the course in 55 different events.
  • Varsity Crew Medals at Quinsigamond Snake Regatta

    Simmons Crew traveled to Lake Quinsigamond in Shrewsbury, Mass. on Saturday October 15 for the second fall outing of the season. A new race on the Sharks’ fall schedule, the Snake is a college-only race, attracting top NCAA Division III programs from the northeast. Simmons raced their entire roster on the day, boating a program-high six eights and one four.
  • Simmons Crew Medals at Textile Regatta

    Simmons College Crew medaled in three events at Sunday’s Textile River Regatta in Lowell, Mass. The Sharks won the Women’s Club Double and the Women’s Novice Four, and took third place in the Women’s Novice Eight.
