    CHANDLER, Ariz. – Simmons College field hockey first year Sarah Douglas (Woodstock, Conn.) and sophomores Julie Kellndorfer (Amherst, N.H.) and Kiera Kirkaldy (Middlebury, Vt.) were named 2015 ZAG Field Hockey/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III Scholars of Distinction honorees, it was announced today by the NFHCA.

    NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - The Simmons College field hockey team was defeated by host State University of New York at New Paltz, 1-0, in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament this afternoon at North Turf Field in New Paltz, N.Y. The Sharks finish their season with a 14-5 record, while the Hawks improve to 16-5 and advance to face Messiah College on Saturday, November 14 in a second round match that will be played at regional host The College of New Jersey in Ewing Township, N.J.

    DANBURY, Conn. - Simmons College field hockey player, Julie Saltamartini (East Hampstead, N.H.) was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the week of November 2-8, it was announced by the ECAC today. It's the second time this season that she has earned a Player of the Week accolade. Saltamartini was also named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of August 31 to September 6.

The Sharks have won four of their last five games to improve to 11-4 overall and 5-1 in the league to earn the GNAC regular season title and the top seed in the GNAC Championship tournament. The Mustangs fall to 4-11 and 1-5.
