Tennis Edged Out by Lesley University, 5-4, to Conclude Regular Season

BRIGHTON, Mass. – The regular season drew to a close for Simmons tennis (5-8) following a 5-4 non-conference loss to Lesley University (8-4) on Monday afternoon.  

The two squads battle each other valiantly in the doubles. After the Lynx grabbed the quick 1-0 lead, the Sharks responded with a win in third doubles to even the overall match. Sophomore Laura Lowe and first-year Emma Parsons earned fourth win as doubles partners, defeating Lucy Boyce and Arden Farnsworth-Moore, 8-2.

However, the Lynx were able to take second doubles to take a 2-1 lead into singles. In singles, Lesley extended their lead to 3-1 with a win in second singles. It was short-lived. First-year Ainsley Foster made quick work of Ariane Ramos in sixth singles, winning in two sets, 6-0, 6-0.

Moments later fellow first-year Emma Parsons tied the overall match at 3-3 with a two-set win in fifth singles. Parsons was able to get the best of the Lynx's Lucy Boyce with a 6-3, 6-2 win. The Lynx managed to claim first and third singles to seal the match, but senior Sara Fucillo concluded the match with a two-set win over Jordan Blair, 7-5, 6-2 in fourth singles.  

SIMMONS HIGHLIGHTS

  • Senior Sara Fucillo concluded the day winning her team-leading seventh singles victory of the season, defeating Jordan Blair in fourth singles, 7-5, 6-2.
  • Sophomore Laura Lowe and first-year Emma Parsons improved to 4-2 in doubles with a third doubles victory.
  • First-year Ainsley Foster earned her second singles win of the season with a victory in sixth singles.
