BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons tennis (5-7, 2-2 GNAC) concluded Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action falling to Colby-Sawyer College (4-2, 4-0 GNAC) on Sunday afternoon.

The Chargers were quick to jump out in front early, taking doubles 2-1. Simmons second doubles tandem of senior Sara Fucillo and junior Emily Lopez managed to squeak out the lone double win with an 8-6 win over Mei Genest and Mary Thoms.

While Colby-Sawyer won five of six singles matches, first singles belonged to Simmons. At the top of the Sharks lineup, first-year Emilie Lapointe grabbed a quick 1-0 lead over Grace Carpenter. However, Carpenter evened the match taking the second set, 6-2, to force a deciding game three.

Game three was back-and-forth battle, but Lapointe escaped with the 6-4 win to seal the first singles win. The victory kept Lapointe perfect against conference opponents, improving to 4-on the season and 6-6 overall.
