Tennis Falls to Wheaton (Mass.), 9-0

BOSTON, Mass. ? The Simmons College women's tennis team was defeated by visiting Wheaton College (Mass.) this afternoon at Daly Courts in Brighton, Mass. The Sharks fall to 11-7 on the season, while the Lyons improve to 4-3. 

BOSTON, Mass. – The Simmons College women's tennis team was defeated by visiting Wheaton College (Mass.) this afternoon at Daly Courts in Brighton, Mass. The Sharks fall to 11-7 on the season, while the Lyons improve to 4-3. 

Junior Ines de Bracamonte (Sunny Isles Beach, Fla.), sophomore Isabelle Garvanne (Los Angeles, Calif.) and junior Connor O'Keefe (Lutz, Fla.) all earned victories in both singles and doubles play for Wheaton. 

Bracamonte and Garvanne combined to down Simmons sophomores Marissa Johnson (Norwell, Mass.) and Nickie Nguyen (Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam) at first doubles, 8-0. Bracamonte defeated Nguyen at number one singles as well, 6-1, 6-1, while Garvanne overcame Johnson at second singles, 6-0, 6-2. 

O'Keefe teamed with senior Jodi Katz (Needham, Mass.) to earn an 8-3 triumph at second doubles over the Sharks duo of junior Paola Rios (Miami, Fla.) and senior Olivia Lakes (Dorchester, Mass.). O'Keefe was a straight set 6-2, 6-2 winner over junior Michelle Medici (South Portland, Maine) at third singles. First year Allie Burton (Hingham, Mass.) scored a 6-2, 6-0 win for the Lyons over Rios at number four singles and sophomore Harley Swainston (Hudsonville, Mich.) turned in a 6-0, 6-2 victory for Wheaton at fifth singles over Lakes. 

Simmons returns to the court on Saturday, April 7 when it travels to Beverly, Mass. to play Endicott College at 12:00 p.m., while the Lyons head to South Hadley, Mass. on April 3 to take on New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference foe Mount Holyoke College at 4:30 p.m.
