Five Sharks Named to 2016 NEWMAC Rowing Academic All-Conference Team

BOSTON, Mass. - Seniors Allie Belanger (Blackstone, Mass.) and Jill Bolduc (Methuen, Mass.) and sophomores Ronnie Bennett (Pottstown, Pa.), Karina Bercan (Derry, N.H.) and Alexa Frongillo (Franklin, Mass.) were all named to the 2016 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Rowing Academic All-Conference team, it was announced today by the league.

BOSTON, Mass. - Seniors Allie Belanger (Blackstone, Mass.) and Jill Bolduc (Methuen, Mass.) and sophomores Ronnie Bennett (Pottstown, Pa.), Karina Bercan (Derry, N.H.) and Alexa Frongillo (Franklin, Mass.) were all named to the 2016 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Rowing Academic All-Conference team, it was announced today by the league. 

Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2015 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.

Bennett and Bolduc have rowed for the One Varsity Eight this season that has been named NEWMAC Boat of the Week three times. Both student-athletes are also Captains for this year's squad. 

Frongillo is a Captain as well and has rowed on the Second Varsity Eight with Belanger and Bercan. The 2V8 won its race at the Clark Invitational on April 10.

The Sharks are currently ranked 13th in the nation in the most recent USRowing/Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Division III Collegiate Rowing Poll presented by Pocock Racing Shells. Simmons will compete in this weekend's NEWMAC Championship, hosted by Worcester Polytechnic Institute on Saturday, April 23 on Lake Quinsigamond.
