Six Sharks Named to 2014-15 ECAC NIRC Stewards All-Academic Team

DANBURY, Conn. - Simmons College crew team members, Jill Bolduc (Methuen, Mass.), Rachel Corning (Ipswich, Mass.), Laura Matt (Fairfax Station, Va.), Nicole Poirier (Wayland, Mass.), Sophie Stone (Greenland, N.H.) and Eva Weber (Guilford, Conn.) were all named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference National Invitational Rowing Championship Stewards All-Academic Team, it was announced today by the ECAC.

DANBURY, Conn. - Simmons College crew team members, Jill Bolduc (Methuen, Mass.), Rachel Corning (Ipswich, Mass.), Laura Matt (Fairfax Station, Va.), Nicole Poirier (Wayland, Mass.), Sophie Stone (Greenland, N.H.) and Eva Weber (Guilford, Conn.) were all named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference National Invitational Rowing Championship Stewards All-Academic Team, it was announced today by the ECAC.

A total of 321 student-athletes from 24 institutions earned the distinction for the 2014-2015 academic year. 

To receive All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.35 following the fall semester. A transfer student must have completed one year of study at the institution.

Bolduc, Corning, Matt, Poirier, Stone and Weber all competed for the Sharks' top Varsity Eight crew this season. Bolduc, Matt, Poirier and Stone competed for the One Varsity Eight at the NEWMAC Championships as well as the New England and ECAC Championships.

Bolduc, a Captain this season, Matt, Poirier and Stone were also part of the varsity eight that earned NEWMAC Boat of the Week accolades for the week of April 6-12, while Corning, Matt and Weber, who was also a Captain this season, all helped Simmons capture the same honor for the week of March 29 to April 5.
