Bolduc, Corning, Matt Named 2015 CRCA National Scholar-Athletes

BOSTON, Mass. - Simmons College crew members juniors Jill Bolduc (Methuen, Mass.), Rachel Corning (Ipswich, Mass.) and senior Laura Matt (Fairfax Station, Va.) were all named National Scholar-Athletes by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association for 2015.

BOSTON, Mass. - Simmons College crew members juniors Jill Bolduc (Methuen, Mass.), Rachel Corning (Ipswich, Mass.) and senior Laura Matt (Fairfax Station, Va.) were all named National Scholar-Athletes by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association for 2015.

Honorees earn the distinction based on earning a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher for her career through the fall semester of the current competition year and must be in their second, third or fourth year of athletic eligibility.

The trio was also named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Academic All-Conference team last month.

Bolduc, Corning and Matt all competed for the Sharks' top Varsity Eight crew this season. Bolduc and Matt competed for the One Varsity Eight at the NEWMAC Championships as well as the New England and ECAC Championships.

Bolduc, a Captain this season, and Matt were also part of the varsity eight that earned NEWMAC Boat of the Week accolades for the week of April 6-12, while Corning and Matt both helped Simmons capture the same honor for the week of March 29 to April 5.
