Cross Country Opens The Fall Season at the Suffolk Short Course Classic

BOSTON – Simmons opened the season with the Suffolk University Short Course Classic, Friday afternoon at Franklin Park. 

Competing in their first race of the year, junior Sarah Giuliano led the Sharks, crossing the finish line with a time of 14:57.4. Classmate, junior Molly Guinivan was not far behind Giuliano. Pacing herself with a 7:53.0-minute mile, Guinivan posted a time of 15:11.3 in the 3K race meet, just five second shy of University of New England's Izabella Haagenson. 

Senior Clare Thompson also finished in the top 100, finishing with a time of 15:33.2, while sophomore Gabby Flaherty, posted a time of 15:51.4 in the meet. Senior Julia DiGiacomo rounded out the Shark runners registering a time of 16:58.4.

Simmons returns to the course on Saturday, Sept. 17 when they travel to North Dartmouth, Mass. for the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
