Celebrating Women's History Month with Cross Country junior Clare Thompson

Throughout Women's History Month, the Simmons Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will reflect on the importance of celebrating Women's History Month and the inspirations in their life. Today, we close out the month of March with Simmons cross country junior Clare Thompson on the inspirations in her life.

1. Who throughout women's history has been inspirational to you and your life? (can be anyone)
While there are many prominent inspirational women from history that have influenced me and my development. The most impactful individuals have been those closest to me; specifically my mother, sister, and my teammates have always been a major source of inspiration.

2. What does women's history month mean to you?
Women's history month gives me a space and time to appreciate women who inspire me and who have made an impact on my life. It also allows me to reflect on my own experience with femininity.

3. How do you celebrate and show the importance of women's history within your team?
The constant support that our team provides each other not only athletically but academically, socially and emotionally is the most important celebration of women's history.

4. How will you transition from learning from the inspirational women you mentioned in question one to being that inspirational woman/leader in your future?
Seeing what I want out of a leader helps me determine how I will act as a leader. There are many qualities that these individuals have that I wish to emulate but I also know that I possess my own strengths that I can use to lead in my own unique way.
