Cross Country Picked Second Pre-Championship Coaches Poll

WINTHROP, Mass. – With two first-place victories this fall, Simmons cross country was picked to finish second in the upcoming Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tournament, receiving a 113 points, including three first-place votes. The championship race will be held Saturday afternoon at Franklin Park in Dorchester, Mass. 

The Sharks had success at this year's championship course, coming in first at the Suffolk Invitational Gold Women's 6K race on Oct. 16 with a total of 69 points. Sophomore Sarah Cain and first-year runner Kaitlyn Wyatt ran season-best times of 27:09.0 and 32:24.0, respectively. Senior runner and former GNAC Runner of the Week Alice Najimy finished third, crossing with a time of 25:02.0.

Gun is scheduled to go off for the women's championship raced at 2:15 p.m.
