WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons cross country senior Alice Najimy and sophomore Sarah Cain swept the weekly Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) honors announced on Monday afternoon.
Najimy earned Runner of the Week accolades, helping the Sharks to a third-place finish at the Runnin' Monks 6K Invitational in Standish, Maine. Additionally, Najimy finished third overall as an individual, and the first GNAC runner to cross the finish line, posting a time of 25:02.1. Simmons third-place performance was the highest finish of any GNAC program.
Cain received Rookie of the Week honors, crossing the finish line with a time of 28:16.2, good for 29th in the 60-runner field.
Simmons returns to the course on Saturday, Oct. 16 with the Suffolk Invitational at Franklin Park in Dorchester, Mass.
