Bohan Leads Cross Country, Freeman Sets Personal Record at NEICAAA Championship

DORCHESTER, Mass. - Sophomore Sarah Bohan (Guilford, Conn.) was the Simmons women's cross country team's top finisher to lead the Sharks at the New England Intercollege Amateur Athletic Association Championship this morning at historic Franklin Park in Dorchester, Mass.

University of Vermont scored 42 points to earn the team crown in the five-kilometer sub-varsity race, while University of New Hampshire sophomore Riley Gilmore was the race's top finisher with a time of 18:33.67. Simmons tallied a team score of 385 to place 14th overall and third among NCAA Division III schools.

Bohan's time of 20:25.45 was good for 95th place overall and 12th for Division III runners for the Sharks.

First year Emily Freeman (Haverhill, Mass.) eclipsed her personal-best time by 12 seconds with a time of 21:01.89 to place fourth on the team, 132nd overall and 17th among Division III competitors. 

Graduate student Kara MacLean (Braintree, Mass.) clocked in at 20:34.09 to finish 110th and 13th for Simmons, while sophomore Samantha Jaffe (Fatetteville, N.Y) placed 125th and 16th with a mark of 20:52.05. Senior Sara Harland (Pembroke, Mass.) bested her personal-record time by five seconds with a mark of 21:19.80 to finish as the team's fifth-fastest runner and 148th overall, including 19th among Division III competitors. First year Kearsten Pichette (Hookset, N.H.) was just under eight seconds behind with a time of 21:27.66 to finish 156th and 23rd, while senior Mia DeLuccia (Lynnfield, Mass.) crossed the finish at 21:45.89 to place 162nd and 24th as the Sharks' seventh runner with a sub-22 minute showing.

Junior Allegra Egizi (Beverly, Mass.) placed 183rd/32nd with a time of 22:18.62 and senior Bethanie Royality-Lindman (Wakefield, R.I.) posted a mark of 22:40.10 to finish 191st/33rd. Sophomore Hannah Green (Blandford, Mass.) registered a mark of 22:57.60 to come in at 199th/36th and sophomore Carol Figeiredo (Norwood, Mass.) placed 207th/38th on a time of 23:27.35. Senior Kaitlyn Maloney (Amherst, N.H.) made her season debut with a time of 23:39.99 and placed 209th/39th, while first year Amelia Franklin (Bath, Maine) finished 215th/41st after recording a time of 24:22.49.

Simmons will run again at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 16 at the Seven Sister's Championship at Nehoiden Golf Course in Wellesley, Mass.
