FRANKLIN, Mass. – Simmons soccer (3-11-3, 2-8-2 GNAC)) tied Dean College (2-9-4; 1-8-3 GNAC) in intense Great Northeast Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon at the Longley Athletic Complex.

From the opening whistle, both teams were motivated to score early in the match. Senior Izabella Warren fired the first shot for the Sharks in the second minute of play but was saved by Bulldogs goalkeeper Haley Gaunt. Dean found themselves on the board first in the third minute, with a goal from Jazzy Sztyler-Magee.

In the 12th minute, Sztyler-Magee struck again with her second goal, putting the Bulldogs up 2-0. However, Simmons pushed their offensive attack forward. There were some close shots by the Sharks, but nothing resulted in a goal. Dean went up 3-0 in the 26th minute with another goal by Stztyler-Magee, to get a hat-trick.

Simmons pushed through the adversity to get a corner kick in the 32nd minute which resulted in a goal from first year Kayla Noonan from Sydney Neumuth

To end the first half, the Sharks scored two goals within one minute of each other; one from first year Emma McEwan and the other goal from senior Izabella Warren, to make the score even with the Bulldogs.

The second half started with another shot from Izabella Warren within the first minute of play. A penalty kick was awarded to the Bulldogs in the 45th minute and they capitalized on that opportunity to make the score 4-3. Not even five minutes later, Simmons scored the equalizer from Neumuth.

For the remainder of the second half, both teams went back-and-forth with opportunities to score a game-winning goal. However, because of how closely matched the teams were to one another, the game would end in a tie.
