BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons soccer (2-10-2, 1-7-1 GNAC) fell to Regis College (8-4-1, 7-2-0 GNAC) in competitive Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action Wednesday Night at Daly Field.

The Sharks started out the game, ready to play and pushed to get a goal early on. They wanted to set the tone early in the first half to gain strong momentum that would last for the duration of the match. However, the Pride had the same idea and started their offense right from the start. Both teams looked evenly matched, and no dangerous opportunities occurred in the first 20 minutes.

In the 21st minute, Simmons began their offensive attack up the field where first year Kayla Noonan took a shot towards goal and it deflected off a Regis defender, first year Emma McEwan flicked the ball into the net before the goalkeeper could reach.

Right after the whistle blew for play to resume, the Pride immediately went towards the Sharks defense. After a few tight chances, in the 25th minute, Regis scored a goal, to even things up with Simmons. To finish out the half, junior goalkeeper Marita Nothacker registered four saves to keep the team in good position.

After halftime, it was a back-and-forth battle between both teams' offenses. Senior Izabella Warren and junior Kristina Reed had shots towards goal within the first 20 minutes. The Pride began to ramp up pressure on the Sharks defense, which resulted in a goal for Regis in the 65th minute, to put them ahead by two goals.

Simmons kept their heads up after the goal and continued to play hard. All they were looking for was one opportunity to tie the game up. Regis kept going with their offensive attack; the Sharks defense stood their ground. With just a few minutes remaining, the Sharks gained a free kick attempt outside the box, yet nothing would come from it.
