BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons soccer (2-9-2, 1-6-1 GNAC) battled Colby-Sawyer College (4-7-2, 3-4-1 GNAC) to a 0-0 tie in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday afternoon at Daly Field.

The Chargers were pressuring the Sharks defense right from the kickoff. The pressure led to a corner kick in the third minute; however, nothing would come from the opportunity. From that point on, shot after shot was fired at Simmons with almost no delays. Junior goalkeeper Marita Nothacker led an impressive performance by the Sharks defense holding the Chargers offensive attacks, registering six saves in the first half.

Simmons' offense had one shot towards the end of the first half, from senior Liv Shaw. Going into the locker room at halftime, Simmons knew they had some offensive momentum to build from in the second half of the game.

Within the first minute of the half, Simmons earned a close corner kick chance, but senior Izabella Warren hit the ball just over the crossbar. Colby-Sawyer would continue their dangerous offensive attacks; nevertheless, the defense worked tirelessly to keep the score even. The clock began to tick down as both teams were fighting hard to get something on the board.

Simmons Highlights

  • Goalkeeper Marita Nothacker notched 13 saves, for the third time this season, and was just one save away from tying her career single game high.
