Warren Named GNAC Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week

WINTRHOP, Mass. ? Simmons University women?s soccer player Izabella Warren (Hillsboro, N.H.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women?s Soccer Rookie of the Week, it was announced today by the league. 

WINTRHOP, Mass. – Simmons University women's soccer player Izabella Warren (Hillsboro, N.H.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week for the week of October 7-13, it was announced today by the league. 

Warren becomes the first Shark to earn the award since Rachel Gilbert (2016-17) was named for the week of October 10-16, 2016. 

The midfielder was outstanding in two matches for Simmons, racking up six points on three goals, including her first collegiate multi-goal effort. The Hillsboro-Deering High School graduate began the week in dramatic fashion by scoring the game-winning tally with 4:31 left in overtime to give the Sharks a 3-2 victory over Emmanuel College (Mass.) on October 8. Warren capped the week by netting a pair of goals in three shots at Norwich University on October 11. 

For the season, the first year leads Simmons with five goals and 10 points and ranks 13th among league leaders and second among GNAC rookies in goals scored. Warren is among the most accurate shooters in the conference as well with a .333 shooting mark to place eighth in the league. A Physical Therapy major, she has scored at least one goal in three of her last four matches. 

The Sharks are currently 1-10-1 on the season, including 1-7-0 in league play and will be in action again on Wednesday, October 16 when they travel to Paxton, Mass. to take on Anna Maria College at 3:30 p.m.
