NORTHFIELD, Vt. -- First year midfielder Izabella Warren (Hillsboro, N.H.) registered the first multi-goal effort of her career to lead the Simmons University women's soccer team in a 4-2 loss to host Norwich University this evening in Great Northeat Athletic Conference play at Sabine Field in Northfield, Vt. The Sharks fall to 1-10-1 overall, including 1-7-0 in league play, while the Cadets improve to 4-8-1 and 3-4-1.

Norwich made the most of its seven shots in the opening half, scoring three times in the stanza. Simmons outscored its host, 2-1, in the second half and held an 11-8 shot advantage as part of a 17-15 shooting margin for the match.

Warren becomes the first rookie to net two or more goals in a game for the Sharks since Rachel Gilbert (2016-17) tallied a pair of markers at Mount Ida College on October 10, 2016.

Junior Sydney Rocheville (Salem, Mass.) notched four assists to tie the school record for assists in a game, while sophomore Karyssa Lachance (Gorham, N.H.) recorded her first collegiate hat trick to lead the Cadets.

Rocheville tied Megan Curran '97, who had four assists vs. Thomas College on October 10, 1996, which had previously stood as the lone occurrence in program history.

Senior Kaila Lemmer (Barnard, Vt.) opened the scoring in the seventh minute when she converted a free-kick service from Rocheville for Norwich. The ball took a bounce inside the 18, where Lemmer headed the ball past Simmons goalkeeper to give the Cadets a 1-0 lead.

Lachance scored exactly five minutes later for the Cadets with her first of the game and eighth of the season off another assist from Rocheville. Rocheville played a through ball and Lachance sped past the Simmons defense to collect the ball. She got a touch on it and then deflected the ball off the Sharks keeper and preceded to body the ball into an open net.

Rocheville played another through ball in the 20th minute with Lachance chasing it down and fending off a Simmons defender, before slipping the ball into the bottom corner of the net off a left-footed shot that beat the Simmons keeper, who had come off her line.

Lachance capped the Norwich scoring in the 54th minute to complete her hat trick and increase the lead to 4-0. Rocheville played a through ball between a pair of Simmons defenders that Lachance tracked down and blistered the ball into the bottom right corner of the net.

Warren scored her fourth goal of the season for the Sharks with a shot into the left corner of the net at the 68:23 mark of the second half to cut the deficit to 4-1. The first year scored again in the 88th minute with another unassisted tally off a right-footed strike into the left side of the net.

First year goalie Melanie Colman (Holliston, Mass.) made three saves for Simmons, while sophomore goalie Kim Watt (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) turned away all five shots she faced in the first half, before yielding to sophomore keeper Lindsey Gordon (Wiscasset, Maine), who stopped seven of nine shots in the second half.

The Sharks return to action on Wednesday, October 16 when they travel to Paxton, Mass. to take on Anna Maria Colllege at 3:30 p.m. in GNAC play, while Norwich hosts Rivier University on the same day at 4:00 p.m.
