NEWTON, Mass. – The Simmons University women's soccer team was defeated by host Lasell University, 2-0, this afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match at Taylor Field in Newton, Mass. The Sharks fall to 0-9-1 overall, including 0-6-0 in league play, while the Lasers improve to 4-7-0 and 4-2-0.

Lasell controlled possession throughout the match with a 36-0 shot advantage and was awarded all eight corner kicks in the game.

Freshman Bobbi O'Guin (Newton, Mass.) scored the first of the two Laser goals for her third on the season. Sophomore Serena Speight (Biddeford, Maine) scored the other as she tallied her fourth on the season.

Lasell opened up the scoring with 10 minutes left in the first half. O'Guin ran down the left wing into the Sharks defensive third, cut the ball back to her right foot for a strike outside the 18-yard box and scored in the upper-left corner of the net.

With four seconds left in the game Speight found herself at the top of the box, turned and lifted the ball over the keeper with her left foot to give the home team a 2-0 lead.
